Hey, this sounds unusual. I hold a degree in networking, but I’m still finding it confusing. My PC is directly connected to a router, and I have high-speed fiber internet. For a while, everything worked fine—playing CSGO, streaming YouTube on the second monitor without issues, and even downloading 70GB of Steam games without any problems. During speed tests, my Ethernet consistently showed 960 Mbps download and 920 Mbps upload. I checked my network stats in Task Manager and saw stable performance.
Recently, when watching a YouTube video, buffering started at around 360p, and streaming became erratic—receives never exceeded 24 Mbps with huge fluctuations. The same happened on Vimeo and during daily playback. I tried using Firefox and Edge, but the problem persisted.
I also ran a packet loss test at maximum size for three minutes without any drops. No other wired device on the network was affected, and Wi-Fi streaming remained stable. I changed the Ethernet port, ran a new cable, swapped the router, and even performed a full system wipe and reinstall of Windows. The issue still exists.
From what you described, the difference in network behavior during streaming versus testing is clear. There’s no packet loss or dropped usage when I’m actually using the service.
