I own an ASUS transformer book T100TA running Ubuntu 18.04. I can see Bluetooth devices and pair them, but after pairing they stop connecting. Occasionally my headphones work fine, though most of the time I can't get them to connect. I've been searching online for about three days without success. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The usual advice for Bluetooth devices on Linux was simply to plug in a USB adapter. It's not clear if that still holds up today.

Generally it functions with standard components. However, for newer hardware you may need to add the non-LTS version.

Run an apt dist-upgrade directly from the terminal.

This would point to the following LTS, though none currently exist. You can modify the file if you wish to adjust the release channel.

It came out in late 2014, but I'm uncertain if it would resolve the issue

I attempted that and got the same result. I also disabled the internal adapter and it worked the same.

Interesting point. Suggests it’s a unique issue related to routing data. @Kilrah seems to grasp this better than me. I’m not sure, but it sounds like the software in question is outdated—developers stopped working on it six years ago, which is common with Linux tools. My take here is pretty skeptical. Other programs nearby have kept updating and adapting, while your connections are drifting away from their original setup. Fixing this will likely require manual adjustments. Welcome to Linux.

I’m not starting from scratch. I gave it up a while back because I grew tired of the constant arguments among developers and seeing them intentionally undermine each other’s efforts to advance projects. That kind of behavior made Microsoft’s Explorer and Win98 seem quite cooperative. If you’re still fresh, you’ll understand why command-line tools and config management are essential for connecting systems outside of a fully functional distribution.
