Hello, I recently installed a new rig and encountered a random blue screen error related to the memory controller. This issue began after activating XMP profiles on the Z690 motherboard. The crashes seem unpredictable. My setup includes four 16GB DDR5 RAM sticks from Corsair, mounted on an Asus Z690 with Wi-Fi. I’m struggling to boot at 5600Mhz but manage to run smoothly at 5200Mhz. On the Asus website, they list compatibility for two 16GB sticks at 5600Mhz, but I’m unsure if four are supported or if testing hasn’t been completed. Could you advise on a solution? I’ve also updated the BIOS to the latest version. I haven’t tried using two 16GB sticks at full speed yet. Here are my specs: OS – Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (10.0.19045), Other OS – Not available, Manufacturer – Microsoft Corporation, Model – DESKTOP-D5GBM8M. Processor – Intel i7-12700K 12th Gen, 3600Mhz, 12 cores, 20 logical processors. BIOS Version/Date – American Megatrends 2103, 30/09/2022. I’m using SMBIOS 3.4, UEFI, Secure Boot enabled. System details include a page file and virtual memory stats. Let me know if there’s any way to resolve this.

Additionally, I executed MemTest86 from Windows and PassMark tests, both showing zero errors. The report is attached here: MemTest86-Report-20221127-030133.html

The 12th generation didn't perform well with 4 DDR5 dimms. Consider reducing the frequency on the memory.

It seems both AMD and Intel are struggling with high-speed 4DIMM configurations, while 2DIMMs work fine. This suggests running 4DIMMs likely requires lowering the clock speed. I chose a 6000 MHz setup with two sticks instead of four to manage memory needs, assuming at least 32GB RAM is available. If you require more than that, you may need to accept a slower frequency.

Thank you for your prompt replies. I’ll choose two sticks totaling 32GB. Please let me know if you have any ideas later.
