Hello everyone, just wanted to share my experience. I’m working with an old laptop for some fun projects, specifically an HP G2 355. During the installation process, I encountered a CD/DVD driver error. I’m not sure if there’s a workaround available. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

The laptop uses UEFI, and it's starting from a DVD or USB drive.

I’m not sure, but based on a quick search for UEFI 2), it seems you’re starting from a USB drive.

Visit the HP website to obtain the drivers for your equipment. Save them onto a USB drive and install them in the setup tool. This should resolve the issue. Note that HP does not support Vista on that model, which may explain why it's not working. You might want to consider giving up if that's the case.

This laptop is way too recent for Windows Vista to work well. There’s no driver support available, and it’s unlikely you’ll be able to locate any.

It was merely an enjoyable task. I love experimenting with different operating systems.

UEFI setup requires enabling CSM or Legacy Boot Mode for Vista installation. Swap your USB 3 port for a USB 2 port.

Almost all features will function properly with seven drivers. The only issue is video support, which is affected because Vista uses WDDM 1.2 while 7 uses WDDM 2.0. A Windows update should likely fix the video driver problems anyway. Please ensure your installation includes SP1 at least—pre-SP1 isn’t recommended.
