I have an issue with realtek audio driver. Motherboard is MSI b650m gaming plus wi fi. When no audio is playing there is a buzzing sound. I connect my PC to an old hi fi stereo system. The noise goes away when audio is playing (youtube, winamp). The noise disappears also when i open the sound settings in win 11 for a while. I have tried 3 different versions of realtek from manufacturers page - it's all the same. There are no noise when i plug headphones in same output "line in". Which makes me think it could be some incompatibility with my stereo system. The sound works perfect with Generic High definition audio driver from Microsoft. No noise. So i am using this from a long time. I'm satisfied with it, it's not a problem but i just want to know why i can't use the specified realtek driver from my mobo. Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem? Can i try some older realtek driver not from manufacturers page?

The Realtek driver probably turns off the audio when no sound is playing, which suggests your long cable to the stereo system might be disconnected and picking up background electrical interference. The standard driver usually keeps the output active, while the default settings might handle this differently. You may need to adjust a configuration in the driver or utility to prevent it from doing so.

It wasn't something I considered before, but the situation makes total sense. The sound when the PC is off (disabled output) but the stereo system is active matches exactly what I hear. My cable from the PC to the stereo is 5 meters long. It's strange that I always used the same cable for my earlier PCs without any issues, yet now it seems different technology might be involved. Maybe this particular driver activates a setting on the motherboard that causes this effect. I've been researching a lot and didn't find such a setting before. I'll stick with the Microsoft driver at least now to understand what's happening. Thank you very much!
