Problema com o arquivo executável do Windows 10
I'm working with an older system that needs the BIOS updated to support newer CPUs. I obtained the BIOS file from Gigabyte's website but encountered issues when trying to open the corresponding EXE—it automatically opens a 7-Zip extraction menu. Attempts to uninstall it failed, as it wasn't listed in the control panel, couldn't be opened via Command Prompt, and repeated uninstallation didn't work. Windows 10 Pro is fully updated.
Unzip using 7zip to access the contents. It’s typical, I encountered the same issue when installing a driver from the Gigabyte site for my LGA775 motherboard.
It appears the file was packaged in a self-contained 7-zip archive. Everything functions correctly and won't impact your system.
Gigabyte occasionally employs a function in 7zip (and comparable compression tools) that creates an executable alongside a .zip file. This means a smaller version of 7zip is bundled with the compressed data, eliminating the need for a separate zip application. It can be confusing since it sometimes uses up the same amount of space as the original uncompressed files, and since Windows 7 introduced extraction and compression capabilities for .zip files.
Hey everyone, great feedback. I should have known better. Lost two hours trying to find a fix. Appreciate the second chance!
