I've used the 5TB WD Easystore for a year without major issues until recently. During file transfers between drives, File Explorer started failing and remained unstable even after restarting. After moving both drives to another computer, I checked CrystalDiskInfo and noticed something. Should I consider fixing it myself or return it through Best Buy's RMA process?

Hello. From what I understand, CrystalDisk shows red on the "Read Error Rate" only when it identifies bad sectors. These sectors are permanent, so I’d attempt to recover everything possible if the data is important. You might also consider mirroring the drive to preserve as much information as possible or use a Linux distribution like Ubuntu to help resolve some problems (it helped me in certain cases). If you can, replace it with a new one. Good luck!
