I recently assembled a brand new PC, and it’s functioning perfectly as expected. The only problem is with its internet connection—it can’t stream in or out. When trying to use Steam’s remote play for split-screen, it doesn’t connect. Casting my Oculus Quest 2 to the PC via air server or receiver only shows one frame before freezing. All other networks work fine (speeds drop from 50 down to 20). My PC is wired to a gigabit modem from my ISP; no other devices, including my old PC, have this issue, so it’s not network-related. I’ve reinstalled networking drivers and tried multiple troubleshooting steps, but nothing helps. Even switching to 5GHz WiFi doesn’t resolve the problem. I’m sure someone here can assist, but searching online isn’t yielding results. Details below: Motherboard: ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WIFI) Windows 10 Pro 21H2 19044.1645 (Up to date) LAN Driver: Intel I225 LAN Driver V1.0.2.14 WiFi Driver: Intel WiFi driver V22.80.1.1

What ISP do you use? Which model does your modem have? For example, Xfinity customers typically use a XB-6 or XB-7.

I agree with this. Some routing features in ISP routers/modems seem unreliable. The problems you're facing might be linked to their performance under heavy use.

I'm based in Australia and use Telstra's Smart Modem Gen 1. I'm not sure if you're familiar with it, but it seems quite slow. I haven't had any problems before; other devices worked perfectly. Also, my old PC handled these tasks without any issues, so why am I experiencing this now?

There could be various problems here. For instance, Steam sharing likely requires uPNP to function and your ISP must provide a public IP address, which isn't always available today. Does your router display the IP address it assigned to the WAN? Only the initial portion should indicate whether it's public or CG-NAT. The Oculus Quest 2 issue would relate more to Wi-Fi connectivity on the device itself, not the router.

Steam's uPNP functions properly when connecting to friends' remote play sessions. I notice they appear to be the host; audio drops to about half a second after streaming starts. Using other tools like Parsec reveals network speed issues causing poor connection. I haven't observed problems on my PC, only with my Quest 2. It seems settings on my modem might be influencing the stream, though I can't identify them. My WAN IP starts with 121.217. Casting games from my PC works via Oculus Air Link, but streaming my own Quest 2 screen causes interruptions.

When linking to your friends' stream, use their UPNP—it should be correct. It appears to show a public IP address, which isn’t ideal unless you’re running the game yourself. The issue might actually come from their router. You need to confirm whether the Quest 2 streams directly to your PC or through the routers Wi-Fi. Casting usually works either way, but since you don’t have a Quest, it’s hard to decide the best setup.

It seems the setup isn't working because of the uPNP issue. Friends can link together, but not with me when hosting games. The system appears to send the Quest 2 stream directly to the PC, similar to LAN connections.

It must be through the LAN if it's done over that, since the Quest 2 isn't linked to anything else. The PC should be connected via a wired link to the LAN. If both devices are on WiFi, you'd likely face issues. If they can't reach you, the router might have a UPNP problem—try manually forwarding ports instead of depending on the router.

The device uses a wired link via Cat5e cable. I attempted manual port forwarding but it didn’t work.
