Hey there. I’ve got a few issues with my PC that need your advice. The system runs AMD Ryzen 9 5900x on an MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge Wifi RAM setup with Corsair Vengeance Pro SL 4x32 (128 GB, 3200 MHz C16). It uses the Corsair H150i PSU and HX1000 power supply. I’m housed in a Thermaltake HT Level 20 case with a bottom-mounted AIO, so I can check airflow and temperatures while reading this thread.
I previously used the same motherboard and CPU with Corsair Vengeance PRO 4x8 GB at 2666 MHz and an air-cooling setup. Now I’m running RTX 2080 SUPER from Gigabyte. I’m working on creative programs like UE5, 3ds Max, ZBrush, etc., and I was expecting smooth performance after investing heavily in new components.
Recently, my CPU temperatures reached 90°C. That surprised me since I didn’t notice any problems before. After installing the new RAM, things improved but then I started seeing instability. In UE5, I kept encountering D3D device removal errors. I updated drivers, reinstalled older and newer versions, switched from game drivers to studio ones, and checked numerous forums for fixes—but nothing worked.
Eventually, BSODs appeared with memory-related issues. This raised my suspicion about the RAM. I tested each stick individually using Memtest86 and all passed without errors. I reached out to Corsair support, who ran their memory test and also found no faults. They hinted it might be a motherboard or controller problem.
I double-checked everything else: BIOS updated, CMOS reset, and the system was stable for a while. However, performance dropped significantly—apps would restart unexpectedly, UE5 would crash, and games would disconnect or shut down randomly. I stress-tested the GPU first, which gave reassuring results.
Then I moved on to RAM and CPU testing with Prime95. All 12 cores failed one by one after about 15 minutes. The logs showed rounding issues—some values were off by a fraction. It seemed like the RAM voltage might be the culprit, though I’m not sure.
I’ve also noticed that my PC sometimes stopped completely, and the Bluetooth disappeared. After a couple of days without digging too deep, it worked fine again. I’m still trying to figure out what’s going on, but it’s definitely affecting my workflow.
P.S. There was a moment when the PC shut down entirely, and I lost Bluetooth. It resolved after a few days without me getting too involved. I don’t have a good history with MSI, so this might be their last product I’ve bought from them.
Have you attempted to clear the CMOS after adding new RAM? I experienced a similar problem before realizing I had to reset the CMOS, and things have stabilized since then.
