About 1 in every 100 clicks fails to be recorded. This isn't a major issue unless the click matters in an FPS game. The mouse makes a sound when clicked, but it doesn't actually register. I've been using a wired mouse until now; is this typical for wireless models?

I think so.
Wired mice maintain a steady link with the PC, and if clicks fail to register, it points to a mouse or software problem, though less common.
Wireless mice, on the other hand, rely on Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, which naturally experiences intermittent connections. This explains why inputs sometimes don’t work consistently.
If wireless options matched the reliability of wired ones while also providing mobility—something wireless devices offer—the need for a wired connection would diminish.
However, since wireless solutions aren’t as stable and often require battery power, and charging can interrupt usage, they fall short compared to wired setups.
Overall, wireless peripherals are only practical when you’re unwilling to deal with the cable and all the drawbacks of wireless technology.
