Problem with Windows or File Explorer not opening.
If you open File Explorer it begins loading but never completes, often stuck around 90%. After walking away for two hours it still hasn’t finished. Other applications work fine, and I can open files in programs without issues. I’ve attached images that highlight where the load bar stops and task manager/nzxt-cam displays loads/usage. Usually a restart solves the problem, but it’s not working now. I’ve also tried some online fixes like clearing caches, but nothing has helped. TIA for any assistance.
You might want to pick the explorer task in Task Manager and notice that when it says "end task," it actually shows "restart." Because your system isn't very user-friendly, closing Explorer can cause issues, so Task Manager only restarts it. In short, it simply stops and then resumes the process.
I attempted to restart Explorer and opened my documents, but files loaded slowly before freezing. I ended the task, which caused a crash—screen went dark, no taskbar or desktop, though I could still access Chrome via alt-tab. Eventually, I had to press Ctrl+Alt+Del and restart the system.
The question isn't clear—could you explain what you're trying to achieve with PowerShell?
Navigating through c:/ to view videos, pictures, downloads, etc., was functioning properly. (Bypassing the "This PC" shortcuts) When recording a new video with OBS, the workaround stopped working. The issue appears to be sporadic and is currently impacting only C:/, while the other five drives remain accessible without problems.
Continuing to face the same problems, though this morning none of my folders were reachable. Even the shortcuts I rely on. I recall someone suggesting restarting Windows Explorer via Task Manager. That resolved my backdoor access so thank you for the advice! However, I still can't simply open Windows Explorer and Downloads or images and see them load correctly. Now I have to navigate through c:// users, pictures, etc.
