Hello, friends. Thanks for reaching out. I understand you're looking for advice on using your Windows 10 product key after formatting your computer. It's important to know that once a product key is activated, it generally can't be reused unless the original activation was properly completed and the key is still valid. Microsoft typically locks keys after activation, so reusing them may not work. If you're concerned about deactivation, it's best to contact Microsoft support directly for clarification. Let me know if you need further help!

It seems your Windows setup is linked to your motherboard, which should work as expected.

I've had to change my computer settings multiple times, and whenever I encounter an issue, I just dial Microsoft and follow their automated instructions.

Check if they stored your phone number and how you can access it on your device.

The USB keys are sold separately and don't come pre-installed on your motherboard, whereas the DVD versions are original equipment manufacturer (OEM). However, excessive activation tries might prompt a manual activation request; if it remains unchanged, it usually indicates the number you should contact after choosing your region.

If you must be reactivated, a notification will appear and you should dial the provided number to receive instructions on the required inputs.

WinX introduced a new licensing approach named digital entitlements, meaning you’d essentially need a completely different setup to request a product key. Many prefer not to rely on live or Outlook accounts due to privacy concerns, as using that feature only requires signing in, with all updates syncing automatically, including activation.

It seems the main purpose is to reuse a product key across devices. The approach likely involves copying the key or using methods that allow sharing it between computers.

Hi there, thank you for your patience. I’m here to clarify this step for you. You’re likely referring to the activation process when reinstalling Windows 10 on a different machine or making hardware changes. At that stage, you’ll see specific numbers that help us confirm the installation and communicate with you. No phone number is required unless you want to receive further confirmation details. Let me know if you need more explanation!
