Problem with Watchdogs 2
Bloom : Reduce performance by turning off the subtle Bloom effect—every bit helps! Depth of Field : Some scenes and shots will lose their polished look without DoF, but gameplay remains smooth. Extra Details : The most demanding CPU setting will heavily impact older or slower processors, limiting your GPU's speed. Headlight Shadows : Using fewer shadows from two cars instead of four will cut performance by nearly 2 FPS, and choosing "Your Car" will save about 3.5 FPS. Motion Blur : Disabling this option saves one frame per second. Multisample Anti-Aliasing : If you don’t have enough power or hardware for TXAA, switch to post-process SMAA to preserve many more frames. San Francisco Fog : Removing full-density, high-quality fog will save 30 FPS, though it’s a trade-off. When using other fog types, gains range from 3 to 20 FPS. Screen Space Reflections : The impact depends on the setting; choosing Very High instead of Ultra can help maintain performance. Shadows : If NVIDIA HFTS and Ultra are too taxing, opt for Very High—the final detail level before significant loss of clarity. Terrain : Running at High mode adds 1.6 FPS over Ultra, but the difference is barely noticeable in most situations. Vegetation : Simple trees look okay and save about 1.4 FPS.
The game really puts a strain on the system. Even my i5 is struggling to keep up. Using Temporal AA Filtering boosts frame rates significantly, though it shares similarities with the checkerboarding method in the PS4 Pro. I don’t see a major difference from native resolution, but there are slight ghosting effects during movement.
