You've been testing your new laptop extensively. Recently, the external monitor only shows video at 720p or lower through the left USB-C port, even though it worked perfectly yesterday. On the right side, you get full 1080p60 with 10-bit color, but the left port caps at 1080p30 at 8-bit, which isn't supported. After launching a game and encountering a crash, the display briefly worked at 1080p60 for about ten minutes before reverting to 30Hz. It seems like a hardware problem might be involved—no driver updates have helped. At work, you attempted power delivery over the left port, suggesting a possible internal issue. Anyone has suggestions on what to try next? This is your second Zephyrus; the first had a faulty MUX chip and was replaced at BestBuy last week.

It appears only one of the two DP lanes is being used, meaning the cable might be faulty or the port not functioning properly.

I reached that same conclusion myself. Please submit a service ticket with Asus Tier 2 support. Notably, I can connect it to the correct port, shut it off, then plug it into the other port, restart it, and the display will operate at 1080p60 until unplugged again.
