Problem with UAC not appearing.
Your UAC isn't appearing on your non-admin account as expected. When you run CMD as administrator, it opens without showing UAC. But a recent Security and Maintenance alert suggested resetting the computer to disable UAC. It's unclear if these are connected. If you're not sure where to find assistance, this might be a good starting point for a new user.
This appears to be a domain or AAD integration setup. Yes, there is an option within AAD to configure exactly what you mentioned.
Ensure UAC is enabled and verify settings in the control panel users area. Try logging in using the admin account.
I restored the settings, but now each login shows UAC automatically appears and the app displays as CMD. Pressing no restarts it right away until you enter your password. After about ten minutes I get a notification asking to restart my computer to disable UAC. Windows Security scanned but found nothing suspicious. I downloaded a suspicious file a few days ago but removed it already. Any suggestions?
This seems quite unusual! Many attacks rely on cmd commands, and the repeated requests to turn off UAC stand out. It’s one of the most suspicious patterns I’ve encountered. Usually I’d begin with a system restore, but unless you have critical data at risk, it might be safer to clear everything... for the sake of it.
You might want to install Hijack Hunter, an anti-malware tool that lets you inspect which programs and other items are scheduled to launch each time you log in. Alternatively, you can use Task Scheduler to manage this manually, or search online for guidance on how to utilize similar services. If you're unsure, consider setting up a new Windows local account to test it.
