I purchased an EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra and attempted to install it in my existing rig with a 2060. But when I placed the graphics card in the bottom slot, the system failed to recognize BIOS. It only accepted one of my M.2 drives—my 1TB is in the upper slot, while the boot drive is in the lower slot. It also didn’t detect my HDD. With just a single graphics card in the bottom, it entered an endless boot loop. Mobo: Gigabyte X570 Gaming X GPU0: EVGA Rtx 3070 ftw3 ultra GPU1: Zotac Rtx 2060
Bottom slot supports only PCI-E X4 (physically X16, but electrically X4), and it connects to the chipset. No reference to lanes shared with the second M.2 slot, so both should function simultaneously. For verification, you could disconnect the bottom M.2 SSD to confirm the system boots into BIOS with the second video card installed. Edited March 7, 2021 by mariushm – typo noted
I plan to test it tomorrow. The bottom M.2 is my boot drive, and it didn’t recognize my HDD even though the second card was connected.
When I'm not gaming, I work on the side to earn some extra money. Having two GPUs would really boost my income.
Have you checked the essential settings? Updated the BIOS, drivers, and Windows? The power cap won’t matter once the device is turned on. The power cap will become visible when stressing the system.
