I developed a setup with two 8GB modules at 3600MHz from XPG (ADATA) last year. Now I bought the identical configuration to expand to 32GB of RAM. The problem appears during XMP 3600 profile testing – memtest 3600 reports errors on test 8 (random sequence). Windows Memory Diagnostic also flags issues, but resetting the BIOS and switching all four modules to XMP 3200MT with tighter timing resolves it. Even with the older module slot, using 32GB works fine in slots A2 and B2. For identical systems, the setup fails to boot when using A1 and B1 slots at 2x8GB configuration even with 3600MHz XMP enabled. I’m aware there can be signal reflection problems with A1 and B1, but all modules load properly when both are populated. RAM performance remains stable at 3600MHz in both kits, though the Adata AX4U36008G18I-DT60 model (16GB DDR4 3600MHz) runs smoothly. CPU is an Intel i5-5600X, GPU is AMD Radeon R780X, and system uses ASRock B550M PHantom Gaming. BIOS version is L2.62 with CPU overclocked by 200MHz positive, no curve optimizer. I omitted specs about RAM because both kits are identical. I didn’t notice any error during removal of the CPU occasionally, but major issues appear when the CPU is present. Additional observations: memtest86 tests with only one core show no errors, whereas multi-core runs fail. Windows crashes rarely, though it may freeze at times. Usual setup for a 4x8 configuration. Adding more sticks increases the load on the memory controller. That’s why a 4x8 kit works well because those were designed to function together.

As i was upgrading this was not feasible as i would have to remove perfectly fine 2x8 and then get 4x8 kit. Also both kit are exactly same not just freq and timing it is exact same kit. I just re ordered it from purchase history and same model number. Also when using as just 2x8 using 1 stick from both kit in slot A2 B2 in dual channel there is no issue. Only when populating A1 B1 facing issue. Also even withe the mem error i am not getting regular bsod error though it is not rock solid stable.just dont know what to do cannot return the sticks and selling them is not feasible/difficult where i live. How much would i loose going from 3600 to 3200.

Very little impact on performance. Usually handling 4 sticks boosts it slightly.

System is operating smoothly on xmp 3600 specifications. No crashes have occurred so far. I’ll try to maintain this setup until I encounter significant issues.
