Problem with the RAM slot not detecting the memory chip.
I faced a similar issue earlier but managed to resolve it. I repeatedly reset the RAM—about thirty times trying to set the right combination—and eventually it displayed 12GB. It turns out one middle slot doesn’t work at all. All the RAM modules themselves are fine, but inserting a stick in the middle causes the PC to restart twice before it boots up again, then works normally once other sticks are connected. This happened today when I accidentally bumped my computer (it wasn’t a hard hit, just a minor collision). It’s been an issue before, and I’ve dealt with it successfully. I also attempted a BIOS/CMOS reset, but everything is now functioning properly with the 12GB RAM setup.
