I'm helping a buddy with their old laptop that doesn't want to turn on. The laptop is the Gateway AJ6. Every time I go to turn it on the keyboard lights up, fans runs, makes a beep, but nothing on the screen. After 2 seconds or so it turns off then attempts to turn back on but fails and stays in a infinite cycle. I've already tried many things like taking out the battery and just using the power cable, removing the power cable and just using the battery, and reseating the ram. I even tired hooking it up to my tv to see if anything shows up but still nothing. He really wants his laptop to work so what should i do?

Did water get inside the device? It’s possible a short occurred on the board. With the Lenovo laptop, I had to replace the CMOS battery, but it’s unclear what happened here. There’s no visible damage on the screen—no vendor splash or BIOS access option.

The display remains inactive, stuck in a black state, and he doesn’t mention any water damage.
