Problem with the new PSU PC not powering up
Problem with the new PSU PC not powering up
I purchased a new PSU today and adjusted everything according to the instructions. However, the PC isn't working. I've done some research and discovered that a paper clip test can help. When I tried it, the PSU worked perfectly.
I'm not very familiar with PSU specifications, but the old one had two empty pins in a 24-pin connector, while the new one only has one missing pin. So what's the issue? Could you assist?
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! When sharing a troubleshooting thread, it's important to provide your complete system details. Please list the specifications as follows: CPU, CPU cooler, Motherboard, RAM, SSD/HDD, GPU, PSU, Chassis, OS, Monitor. Since you replaced an old PSU with a new one, also mention the make and model of both PSUs.
I purchased a computer from a second-hand seller to my girlfriend.
Hp Omen
Processor: I7 8700
CPU Cooler: SilentumPc Sprartan 4 Evo
RAM: Hyperx Fury 16gb 2400Mhz
Graphics Card: GTX 1060 6gb
Mainboard: An HP mainboard I've never seen before
Two days ago I started replacing parts gradually; first the case, then today the PSU. I chose the PSU because there are few options available and I couldn't even open BIOS.
The PSU I bought is Silentium Elementum E2 550W 80 Plus.
It comes from my previous power supply and the current one has a 24-pin connector.
