You upgraded your laptop's RAM several months ago and installed a high-speed 3200MHz 8GB module. This increased your total capacity to 16GB. Recently, the screen stopped functioning properly. It still connects to a monitor but doesn’t work at all. Since you wanted portability, this defeats the main reason for buying a laptop. You took it to Asus for repair, but they claimed the changes weren’t their responsibility and suggested purchasing RAM online. They also mentioned being Asus service partners. Following their instructions, you followed the official upgrade guide, which didn’t mention voiding the warranty. Instead, it only advised using compatible RAM. After returning it for repair, they informed you that the RAM upgrade voided the warranty and would need to replace the motherboard—costing more than the laptop’s price. They asked you to return it, but when you received it, it wouldn’t power on and the battery was disconnected. You purchased it from Sharafdg in Dubai. What should you do?

Damn... I'd be upset. I own a laptop with fresh RAM and two new SSDs. I replaced the case and it was still under warranty when I had to fix the 3.5mm jack. As far as I understand, as long as you don't damage anything inside the laptop while opening it, it should still be covered. But it could vary depending on your location.

I don't own a laptop. Could you tell me which one you're referring to?

We don't get that here. Would've bought literally any other company as my last Asus laptop was also trash but unfortunately other gaming laptop companies are overpriced here. Plus you can't get them repaired. After that Asus was the only brand and people have given them good reviews. I'm still pissed as they broke the laptop when I gave it to them. Still waiting for them to reply. They're claiming the ram broke the screen.

It could definitely happen, obviously scammers are out there. You don’t need to go to Amazon—they offer great discounts. Since you’re in a small country, you might find better prices on German or French Amazon sites too.

It’s been under a year since I received it, and now I’m looking for a fresh phone. Amazon sometimes offers good prices, but a laptop would be a better choice if it’s on sale.

Are you sure RAM isn’t the issue? Try taking out one stick and keeping one in—probably won’t fix it, but it’s worth checking.

The laptop is completely non-functional. Unclear what Asus did, but it seems they caused a major issue

It doesn’t produce any noise when you press the power button. This might mean the battery is disconnected or the charging port isn’t working. It could be worth checking with a repair service to diagnose further.
