Problem with system starting when power is cut.
Problem with system starting when power is cut.
I powered off my PC last night and also cut the power to the motherboard so the RGB lights could be turned off. I didn’t realize it was causing damage to the computer. Now the PC won’t boot, and both the CPU and RAM lights are on, showing they’re not working. Should I replace them or the motherboard itself? I’ve used a surge protector and tried resetting the CMOS, but when power is supplied the fans spin up. This issue occurred before with just the RAM light and after a new motherboard, which worked again.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
i turned off my pc last night and i also turned off the power supply to have the rgb lights on the motherboard to get turned off without knowing that its bad for the computer
I don't know where you got that info but you're actually advised to turn off your system when it's not in use since hibernation or sleep still draws power from the wall. How else do you explain that the system powers up without a hitch when you wake it up from sleep?
When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model.
just to make sure, i should fully unplug my computer tonight when i'm not using it?
