Problem with stuttering - Complete failure on AMD 5600
I had a system with an AMD FX8350 that began experiencing stuttering, which presented a chance to upgrade. The current configuration is as follows: CPU - AMD Ryzen 5600, GPU - AMD RX 6750 XT, MOBO - MSI B550 Gaming Gen 3, RAM - Corsair DDR4 3200 2x16GB, PSU - NZXT C850, OS - Windows 10, Resolution - 1080p, Temperatures - No signs of overheating. After assembling everything and installing the old SSD, everything worked well initially. I updated the drivers, downloaded the latest graphics and chipset updates, but the stuttering persisted. It occurs during games and even while watching YouTube videos. At this stage, apart from the SSD, there are no other original parts left on the machine.
I researched common solutions and followed these steps:
- Updated Windows
- Ran an SFC scan
- Enabled Ultimate Power
- Verified BIOS version (latest: 7B86vP6)
- Uninstalled Adrenaline and used only the driver
- Set XMP Profile to Profile 1, FCLK to 1600Hz
- Enabled SAM in BIOS – also activated 4G for crypto mining?
- Disabled TPM in BIOS
- Activated SAM in Adrenaline settings – needed to enable Network Stack in BIOS
Interestingly, when playing a game, the GPU usage would spike to 100%, then drop to 15% and then increase again. It’s unclear if this is related to the OS or the SSD. Any advice on further troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
I assembled everything and connected my old SSD; everything worked well.
If you didn’t reinstall the OS, the problem might be there—reinstall it offline, then manually reinstall all necessary drivers using their latest version in an elevated command, such as right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
Yes, if you rush through your OS installation by simply replacing the existing one, that's probably the main issue, and it should be fixed before seeking more help.
