Problem with starting your new Windows PC build
I’m just getting started with PC building. A friend helped me choose components and install them, but I didn’t have a Windows USB drive. After unplugging all my HDDs to use only an SSD, the setup completed fine until I removed the USB and restarted the system. Then I saw a short black screen with “_” and options for boot menu or BIOS settings. When I tried to select a boot option, the SSD displayed: “Windows Boot Manager (WD_BLACK SN850X 1000GB)” and “WD_BLACK SN850X 1000GB,” but both showed the same blank screen. My friend suggested trying the Windows installer again after reinserting the USB, but now I can’t even open Windows setup. We removed the battery to reset things, tried different storage boot settings, but everything remains confusing. I’ve attached some pictures, and honestly I’m really lost—I thought my first PC build would be easy, but it turned into a big challenge.
No, I didn't check that. Could you confirm if you selected the correct USB drive?
I’ll attempt that now. If it boots without any drives connected, follow these steps:
1. Check the USB connection and ensure it’s properly plugged in.
2. Restart your computer to allow the system to recognize the device.
3. Look for any boot-up options or recovery tools in the BIOS/UEFI settings.
4. If needed, use a USB diagnostic tool or consult manufacturer support.
5. Proceed with further troubleshooting based on the results.
Let me know if you need more details! Thank you for your question.
