PC specifications motherboard: MSI Gaming Edge WIFI x570 CPU: Ryzen 9 3900x GPU: 2080 ti OS: Windows 11 64 bit I recently installed a PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD in the compatible slot on my motherboard. Another SSD is in a different slot with Windows installed. My new SSD doesn’t appear when I first power on the PC. When I enter BIOS, switching from AHCI to RAID mode, rebooting, and then back again causes it to show up. I’m not sure what’s happening. I’ve updated the BIOS. If I restart, it won’t appear on the next boot and I have to repeat the process.

The top slot is the PCIe 4.0, bottom 3.0—just confirming those connections are correct? According to the MSI manual, they shouldn’t be disabled when you plug in an EMC device, so it should work fine. Do you have all the SATA ports filled with drives as well? It’s strange that RAID mode appears but ACI doesn’t.

They are placed in the right positions according to your description. The raid mode doesn’t display it, but when you toggle it on and off repeatedly (ending with ACHI), it becomes visible. It might be unrelated to my changes, though I haven’t tried anything else that would make it appear.

Check the chipset driver update. Try it out to see if it resolves the issue. https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/...t-am4/x570

Held on to check if the fix worked before responding, but it didn’t. It seems the issue isn’t stopping the bios process anymore—just a regular reboot should resolve it.

Exchange the storage devices. Test the alternative unit. Check for issues with the PCIe lane assignment.
