Problem with starting the Ryzen 5 system.

I placed a Ryzen 5 (5000 series) and an MSI B450 motherboard. After setup and booting, the screen stayed blank. A small LED on the motherboard showed a CPU issue. I checked online and found this model has known problems. I ordered another one—Gigabyte B450 M. D3S Wi-Fi. I didn’t mention that the PSU is Corsair CX750M (750W). This time, after installation, nothing worked. The CPU fan didn’t spin, even though the PSU was on and the mouse lit up. There seems to be a power issue.

You need to complete your assignments. Consider using a motherboard that supports flashing its BIOS via USB without a CPU, or update your existing CPU to Zen2 (if you didn’t receive an outdated board from 2018). You can also directly flash the EEPROM using a programmer.

The Ryzen 5 5600G might be a Zen 3 chip, but I’m not sure. I don’t get much of what you’re saying, and I’ve never had to update the BIOS before.

your board needs a more recent CPU model that supports it, allowing you to update its firmware so it can run with the 5000 series components

That's a Zen3 processor, but you need to update your BIOS first. An AM4 board didn't come with a BIOS supporting Zen3 CPUs.

I placed the B550 with a Ryzen 5000 BIOS. What options do I have here? Get a Ryzen 2600 or any affordable Ryzen chip, or swap it with a friend’s older Ryzen processor. Alternatively, consider a new motherboard for the B550. I think you’ll likely find an old Ryzen CPU for about £30.

You need a powerful 2600 or 3600 cpu to update the latest BIOS that works with a 5000 series chip. It’s easy to overlook these issues, and many people have ended up in the same spot before.

With a B450 board you might catch a chance, but don’t depend on it. Even with B550 models you’ll need to update your BIOS to make it work properly—like with a 5600 (non-X) or 5800X3D. Always opt for a board that includes BIOS flashback, since some budget options now offer it. That’s why AMD requires BIOS flashback on all AM5 motherboards.
