Problem with starting the PC on its first boot (need urgent assistance)
I programmed my setup on the 14th of November. In the final days of November my computer has been acting strangely. I kept looking up information nonstop. What really occurs is that I power it on via the power button and it loads onto the Windows loading screen with the motherboard image. The loading indicator disappears, then immediately no signal appears from the monitor and the fans increase to full speed. It just stays like this indefinitely. I’ve tried waiting and nothing changes. Sometimes I have to press the power button again and restart, other times it boots into Windows right away, but often it needs another restart to reach the blue screen warning about Windows not being able to recover, after which I restart once more and finally land on the lock screen.
CPU: R5 3600
Motherboard: Asrock b450m steel legend
RAM: TForce 16GB 3200MHz
SSD: WD Blue 500GB M.2
GPU: RX 5600 XT
PSU: EVGA BQ 600W 80 Plus Bronze
Solutions I’ve tried:
- Reseating the RAM
- Booting with one stick at a time (both worked on first try)
- Disabling Fast Startup from the BIOS
- Updating BIOS and chipset drivers (both current)
I’m really frustrated and it’s making me dislike my PC, so I’m considering stopping use.
I experienced a comparable problem with my MSI B450M gaming plus. I powered down the PC and restarted it after briefly shutting off the PSU for 30 seconds. The issue resolved itself, and I haven’t noticed it again. Although it’s frustrating, it seems more like a minor inconvenience than a complete problem.
This topic is trending among B450 boards. Did you attempt it once or consistently?
Check if XMP or A-XMP is turned on for your RAM. I plan to disable it temporarily to check if the problem persists. Certain B450 boards with Ryzen 3000 chipsets sometimes clash with DDR4-3000+ kits. Also, a faulty OS drive might cause recovery mode if Windows isn't installed properly on your WD SSD.
You turned off the issue yesterday and it’s working now. To run your RAM at 3200Hz, adjust the settings in your system preferences or BIOS to match that frequency.
What BIOS version are you currently using? Based on AsRock's guidance, it's recommended to upgrade to at least version 3.30 (released August 3, 2020). The AGESA updates typically include RAM compatibility improvements and stability enhancements. XMP settings are generally optional, but you can adjust memory parameters and timings yourself. It’s possible to achieve DDR4-3200 performance through manual tuning—see the guide at https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHel...aster/DDR4 OC Guide.md. You should verify whether your RAM supports DDR4-3200; if not, consider replacing the motherboard as a last resort.
