I experienced a freeze on my 2011 Macbook Air while using Chrome for school. I thought it was normal and restarted the device, but it kept freezing halfway through the bar. After resetting the SMC, checking the NVRAM, and running the Apple hardware test, it still froze. The disk utility showed no errors during repair, but the disks03 drive failed in both tests. I saved important info and profiles, but mounting the drive didn’t work. The terminal also didn’t help.

Create a macOS installer USB, launch it, wipe the disk, and begin anew.

It's a really large NVMe drive. I wouldn't be able to fit it into any of my other MacBooks or PCs.

You need to decide whether to borrow or purchase something to complete the task. It's a tricky thing to master backing up your data.

Find an NVMe case and insert the drive easily. Those affordable options are around $20.

This feature converts the laptop into an external storage device using the appropriate cable.
