Problem with starting in dual-channel configuration
Problem with starting in dual-channel configuration
Hello everyone, after spending a while waiting in the channel and forum, I finally secured a new setup... but it’s not functioning properly. Whenever I attempt to boot using the RAM sticks in dual-channel mode, I encounter a boot loop. The fans begin spinning, the LEDs illuminate (including the sticks), but after 5 to 10 seconds it shuts off, then restarts repeatedly until I unplug it. I’ve done some research and discovered that my specific kit isn’t listed in ASRock’s QVL database, which raised some concerns. Before considering refunds, I wanted to verify if there’s something missing.
Hardware: ASRock B450 Steel Legend RAM
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200MHz 2x8GB (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
I’ve tried adjusting the cooler (the stock one from AMD), but no improvement. Each stick operates correctly individually, and both appear in the A1-B1 slots when placed there, though they run in single-channel mode. Applying an XMP profile works fine at 3200 MHz. However, if I put a stick in either the A2 or B2 slots (the rightmost ones), it fails entirely.
Should I return the motherboard, the RAM, or both? A friend has an old ASRock X470 Fatal1ty K4, but I’m starting to question whether this brand is reliable. Could I still experience the same problem with this RAM setup?
