I bought a new PC recently with an Intel I7 8th Gen 6 core, 32 GB DDR4 3200mhz, RTX 3080 and a 750W power supply. About a week ago I realized my RAM speed is at 2667mhz. I checked the BIOS, the XMP profile was enabled but I couldn’t adjust the RAM speed, even though it’s locked. Someone, could you assist me?
It's a ready-made product I purchased from a nearby computer shop, which has been in operation for about 20 years now.
It might be secured in the BIOS by the PC Store to prevent changes, as many pre-built systems come this way. If it's a smaller company assembling PCs from standard parts, that shouldn't be the case. Can you capture a photo of the BIOS using your phone? Where did you see it running at 2667MHz? What information appears in the task manager—specifically performance and memory speed?
In Task Manager it shows 2666mhz in BIOS and 2667mhz overall. Ready to capture some images.
What kind of motherboard are you using? If it isn’t Z370 or Z390, it won’t handle memory speeds over 2666 MHz. It’s common for prebuilt units to skip details, making DIY builds a smart option when you can.
