So to make a long story shot I'm a long time arch and gnome user and for the longest time the audio stuff just worked. I recently switched to KDE as I figured it was more suited to a desktop/gaming use case. I've pretty much figured everything out however I'm having an issue with audio. I can't figure out if I did something wrong or if this is a bug but I have a miniDSP 4X2HD that I use as my sound device. It's connected via USB and shows up in the OS as a 2 channel USB audio device. However when I start an application or in any way start or stop an audio stream the device ends up in a "invalid" state and I have to change the output type from stereo output to something else like multichannel and then back a few times before the audio just works again. I know this isnt a hardware bug because the DSP works fine with gnome on arch and I never did any special configuration for the audio the defaults were fine. I did install plasma minimal desktop and manually add some of the packages I needed but it's mostly bare bones. Maybe I'm missing an audio related package? If anyone might know a solution please let me know because I looked around online and I didn't find any posts that seemed to have the exact same issue.
