Problem with Second M.2 Drive not found during cold boot. Restart resolves the issue.
The issue began after relocating the main 1TB drive from slot one to slot two. I installed a new 4TB M.2 drive in slot one and split it in half, leaving the original 1TB untouched. I performed a full wipe and reinstalled everything using Windows 10. I checked other sources for similar solutions, but the instructions didn’t match what I tried. The second drive is primarily a bulk games drive; having to restart just to see it is frustrating. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Both drives were installed during the OS installation. I considered updating the outdated BIOS, so I did that today with the newest (3607) and the drivers. A cold start still causes the issue.

Several suggestions might help if you haven't tried them yet, otherwise it seems you should consider replacing the 4 TB drive and opting for another brand.
I previously used a 1 TB WD NVMe as my games drive for years without any problems. Recently, I switched to a 2 TB WD NVMe as the games drive and transferred my OS/data to the 1 TB. Now and then, the 1 TB isn't detected in BIOS, preventing the PC from booting, but it functions correctly when I attempt to start it again. That's a bit confusing.
It doesn't occur frequently enough for me to think about replacing the drive, but if it's happening often with a new unit, it might not be worth tolerating.
During a cold boot, both M.2s appear in the BIOS. When I start Windows, the second M.2 drive (the 1TB) isn't recognized by Windows. The newly created 4TB partition, split in half, functions correctly. It only becomes detected after a Windows restart. Apologies for not replying earlier. Life got in the way.
Right, so it's not the new drive that's a problem, but it's a 2nd M.2 drive issue. It always shows in BIOS, but not in Windows until you reboot. This is all consistent and repeatable, and you're on the latest BIOS.

I suspect some kind of Windows bug. Maybe something weird, like it boots so fast it somehow misses the second drive from cold. When you reboot from cold, have you looked in Disk Management to see if Windows sees the drive in any way at all?
I suspect your options might be (a) live with it, or (b) try a different brand of 1 TB M.2 (or a 1 TB SSD) to see if that works, and if it does sell the WD on.
