I recently installed Ubuntu on a VM via VMware Player, but the scroll wheel on my mouse isn't working. My Corsair M95 is running in hardware playback mode. The performance on the host PC is poor—Task Manager shows slow read/write speeds, and the old HDD is causing delays. The VM also starts up slowly and programs take a long time to open. Could the hardware or storage be affecting these issues?

No, I haven't installed VMware tools on Ubuntu.

I observed the issue when restarting it, as the VM Tools reported a failure.

Adjust the mouse preferences in Ubuntu and confirm the system isn't relying on your touchpad. Verify the mouse is listed under removable devices in VMware.

Do you have easier ways to set up the software without using the terminal?

It seems a Windows update might be the issue. <_<
