Problem with SATA M.2 SSD not showing up on the new motherboard.
Problem with SATA M.2 SSD not showing up on the new motherboard.
You recently bought a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an ASUS ROG Strix B650-A, and both new components worked without problems. However, your SATA M.2 drive (the boot drive) isn’t showing up. You’ve tried enabling CMS and UEFI in safe boot mode, but none of the three M.2 slots are recognized. Your other two hard drives are working perfectly. Please let me know if you need further help.
Check the old board connected to that M.2 SATA, or try a different board/other device for testing. If it fails to recognize it during those attempts, it likely means the drive is no longer functional.
Is it identified during the BIOS setup? Clearing and restarting doesn’t resolve the issue if it remains unrecognized.
The SSD is a 600-series motherboard. It only accepts NVMe M.2 drives with the M-Key, not SATA M.2. All three M.2 ports on the ASUS STRIX B650-A are M-Key style.
Purchase an M.2 to SATA converter from Amazon. It connects to a 2.5 SATA enclosure and works with various storage devices. Choose between M.2 or M.2 SATA adapters that support NGFF SSDs, including models compatible with mSATA or M.2. The product description highlights support for 2.5 inch SATA 3.0 cards and drives with a 7mm case. Ideal for electronics stores or devices needing either M or B key compatibility.
This appears to be the problem then it’s marked with both M and B. I attempted to verify if this was a concern before, but the site I read said as long as it fit in the slot it should have worked. That wasn’t very helpful. Thank you for clarifying and making it clear.
