Problem with restoring Gigabyte/Aorus App Center and SIV
I haven't used Gigabyte App Center or Siv often, but I decided to visit the Gigabyte website. I planned to update both apps but ran into problems, so I removed them completely and attempted a fresh installation. Now I can't install them again. The App Center zip contains UpdPack.exe and verinfo.ini, but not a "setup.exe" file. When I ran UpdPack.exe, it seemed to install App Center partially. All files are present, along with several .exe files, yet ApCent.exe doesn't activate when I select it. The same happens with Launch.exe; the only app that functions is RunUpd.exe, which opens the Aorus App Center window. There are sections for Gigabyte apps, Windows settings, and third-party software, but nothing else. If I recall correctly, Siv used to appear in this window and could be selected from there. I then tried installing SIV, placing two apps in the unzipped folder—Setup.exe and Updpack.exe. When I opened either, a message appeared stating "SIV is the latest version." I'm certain I deleted all files first, using the add/remove program, and then double-checked and removed the Gigabyte folder from my program files. At this point, I'm struggling to figure out how to install these two apps properly so they work correctly. I know they're not very reliable based on what I've read, but I've tried other apps mainly for fan control. Other applications only recognize my GPU fan, and at least SIV did recognize it, CPU, GPU, and several case fans. Could anyone assist me? Thanks.
The model of your Gigabyte motherboard is available. Also, verify your BIOS version at this time. Regarding your application, what operating system are you using? If you're on Windows OS, especially Windows 10 or newer, attempt to install the app in an elevated command by right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
Concerning the installers, did you obtain them from this source: Utility | Service / Support - GIGABYTE U.S.A. www.gigabyte.com?
Yes, I used that website for the downloads. On Windows 10, I also tried running it as an administrator. The board model is Aorus B550 Elite AX v2. I haven’t checked my BIOS. I found on various sites that others have faced similar problems, but I couldn’t locate a clear solution.
Would you like me to update the BIOS? How should I do that?
I only accessed the startup BIOS once recently to verify the fan settings (Smart Fan 5 appeared in BIOS) without making any changes. Also, on the same screen, there was a CPU and fan temperature warning window, but it was disabled. That seems correct.
I think it would be fine to keep the BIOS as is, allowing fans to run normally, though having Smart Fan 5 on my desktop was useful for checking and adjusting settings later if needed. SIV and the App Center launched Smart Fan 5 before—probably only available through SIV or similar services, not a separate download.
I’m a bit frustrated because other fan controllers only recognize the GPU.
Thanks.
