Hey! I’m facing some unexpected crashes, freezes, and BSODs after upgrading my RAM from 16GB to 32GB. I had two old HyperX Fury sticks and added two more, but they’re the newer “new generation” ones. Both have 3200MHz and CL16 speeds. My CPU is a Ryzen 5 2600X and the motherboard is an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max. When I tried XMP, the PC would fail to start and then reset the memory frequencies. Overclocking to 3200MHz also didn’t work—PC just wouldn’t boot. I switched to 2933MHz CL14, which the site said is safe for that model, but the system still crashed. I set it to CL15 then CL16, yet apps keep crashing and I get occasional blue screens. The new RAM I bought is brand new and the previous ones worked fine. Sorry about the confusing English and the error messages: page fault in non paged area reference by pointer.

Is your BIOS current to the newest release? A faulty RAM module might be the issue, though uncommon these days. You might attempt using the default 2133 frequency and observe if it resolves the problem. If successful, proceed to update your BIOS prior to returning to the 3200MHZ setting.

It might also indicate that the new package isn't fully compatible with the older one. Even if you align the model numbers, RAM makers don’t produce the same chips—they simply source the most affordable options for each production run, allowing the next batch to use entirely different memory ICs and chip designs.

I replaced them and also checked how they interacted. The dual-channel setup (X new X old) runs smoothly at 3200mhz. I tried every possible combination to confirm each RAM functions properly. I updated the latest BIOS from MSI. The memory appears stable at 2400mhz and 2133mhz. My aim is to reach the 2933mhz frequency my Ryzen supports.

Adjust the timing and voltage yourself to align with the RAM specifications. It might be better for stability compared to relying solely on the XMP profile, especially with Ryzen.

It seems to be working now, everything is running smoothly and my apps aren’t crashing or freezing. However, I’m still having trouble getting the 3200mHz frequency, possibly due to the CPU being at 2933mHz.
