Problem with random memory performance
Problem with random memory performance
Hello! It seems my device has been experiencing unusual freezes, especially when playing YouTube or Twitch. At first, I assumed it was a software problem since the setup was three years old and I’d installed various graphics drivers and updates. So I spent the weekend doing a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and only added the necessary software and drivers. The problem continued: during playback videos it would freeze while audio stayed on. Occasionally, opening Task Manager showed the performance section frozen, with the GPU sometimes at "100%" or strange temperature readings. Initially, I considered the graphics card was the issue, but even demanding games didn’t show any issues. My roommate recommended trying to swap parts to see if it would help, so I replaced my RAM with a 2x8GB Kingston 3600 module (I don’t recall the exact model, but it wasn’t listed on the motherboard forum). After that, the issue returned quickly. However, when I disabled the Asus AURA Sync RGB control for the RAM, the problem disappeared completely. Still puzzled—system specs are solid, BIOS was current, and even without RGB control it froze. Memtest on the RAM showed no errors. Updated January 14, 2024 by Haggibear. Additional details added.
