Hey there, I recently upgraded my motherboard to the ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING WIFI II and faced a tricky issue with my RAM not reaching its rated speed. Here’s what I have:

- Case: Cooler Master SGC-6000-KKN1-GP
- PSU: Toughpower PF1 750W - TT Premium Edition
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (3.7GHz base / 4.6GHz boost)
- GPU: ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3070
- RAM: 1x Kingston Fury Beast 16GB DDR4-3200 (KF3200C16D4/16GX) + 2x Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4-3200
- Storage: 1TB WD SN730 NVMe SSD + 1TB WD Black HDD

The problem is that when I set DOCP/XMP in BIOS to push RAM to 3200MHz, the system reboots three times and then resets the memory settings back down to stock speeds (around 2300MHz). I’ve updated the BIOS to the latest version, but it still works fine at default rates—just not at the advertised frequency.

Interesting fact: My older motherboard (Gigabyte GA-AX370-Gaming 5) handled this exact setup without issues at 3200MHz using XMP/DOCP.

What I’ve tried so far:
- Cleared CMOS
- Updated BIOS to latest
- Switched RAM slots (A2/B2)

What I’m looking for:
- A method or setting to get RAM to POST at 3200MHz
- Whether mixing RAM from different makers (Hynix + Micron) is the cause
- If manually tuning timings/frequency could help without full XMP
- Advice from people who’ve dealt with similar Ryzen memory issues

I’d appreciate any tips or tricks you can share. Thanks ahead!

Getting a good mix of RAM on a Ryzen processor largely depends on chance and some technical know-how, though luck plays a big role. It seems your setup probably won’t support this configuration long-term... You’re lucky it’s stable at all (if it is). Performance gains from dual-channel are real, so check if you’re using two channels—this matters a lot. Be honest, I’m sorry this isn’t the advice you needed; it’s not easy to get this tricky RAM combo running fast. PS: The key is manually overclocking, which requires skill. One of the challenges (mixing three sticks of different sizes, likely not dual-channel) is definitely the main hurdle—this could take weeks or months before you see results. At that point, I’d wonder why?

I thought combining RAM could cause issues, but what’s puzzling me is how my old AX370 managed this exact configuration (identical sticks, slots) at 3200MHz with DOCP without any problems. No surprises there. It’s been disappointing to see the B550 act differently. To clarify: yes, it’s running in dual channel. I’m aware mixing ICs isn’t optimal, but I was hoping the newer board would handle it better—though I haven’t yet tried full manual tuning, but I’m definitely considering it if it makes sense. I’m not trying to set records just to feel like I’ve downgraded; upgrading doesn’t mean sacrificing performance. And yes, the old board still works fine.
