Hello 👋.
I'm dealing with a peculiar problem that I've already attempted several solutions for.
Despite not dismissing any advice or potential answers, I still want to address this matter.
Issue: After upgrading my CPU from a used Ryzen 7 1700 to a used Ryzen 3700X, RAM slots A2 and B2 are inaccessible. I have two 8GB RAM sticks installed in slots a1 and b1.
The system operates normally, so I can't notice any difference, but I still wish to fix this.
I've tried the following:
- Updating BIOS to an older version.
- Re-seating the RAM and changing its positions.
- Clearing CMOS each time.
What I haven't done:
- Re-seating the CPU (read about it online).
System details:
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X (used)
GPU: RX 570 8GB
RAM: 2 x 8GB DDR4 2400hz
PSU: 600w
SSDs

Determine the make and model of the motherboard.
Certain boards need the initial RAM to be installed in a designated slot, often DIMMA2.
Refer to the relevant motherboard's User Guide or Manual for specific instructions on RAM placement and any additional notes about installation.

Hello, thanks for taking your time aside to help me. I appreciate it!
It's an old board, also used when I bought it.
Asrock ab350m pro4,
It was fine when I was using the 1700.
Edit*: by that, I meant the dual channel setup was working prior to this headache.
After looking around the web for a bit, it might really be the cpu not being seated properly or if the cooler is too tight, I'll give that a try in a bit.

Verify your used Ryzen 3700X for any missing CPU pins.

I didn't notice any missing or bent pins.
You often need to check from various angles to find them.
If your system functions well with RAM modules in A1 and B1 slots, this setup is ideal for dual-channel memory use.
There shouldn't be any performance difference compared to the A2, B2 configuration.

I will continue experimenting, until then I'll mark this as unresolved? I'm not sure.

When you put the old CPU back in the motherboard slot, does the RAM work properly? If yes, it might suggest the new CPU is having an issue. Your decision depends on whether you want to investigate further or stick with the A1 + B1 slots.

I prefer not to. All my requirements are met perfectly. I'll simply label it as 'solved'
