My laptop originally had 4 gigabytes of RAM, with 3.5 gigabytes available. After adding 8 gigabytes to the second slot, it now has 12 gigabytes total, though only 3.5 gigabytes are usable. When running a game, it uses just the 3.5 gigabytes and ignores the rest.

Do you run on a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows? The 3.5GB limit gives the impression of a 32-bit system.

Based on the game and configuration, it's completely typical. I suggest replacing the 4GB with an 8GB stick to enable dual-channel performance. Have you experimented with higher graphics settings or increased resolution? If RAM consumption rises afterward, it's likely the game is functioning as intended.

It's actually a 64-bit architecture, which explains why it's not 32-bit. I'm still trying to figure out why this is happening.

I pushed all the adjustments and it remained limited to 3.5 gigabytes.

Check the task manager for the game's specifications.

It's definitely possible to make that happen.

No additional steps required beyond rebuilding the game.

This aspect is primarily controlled by the game's creator. They'd likely need to rebuild the project, which could go beyond simple changes. It may not be worth their investment unless it leads to substantial extra revenue.
