I'm experiencing a minor issue and need guidance on the next steps. For my Mobo, it's an Asus ROG b550-f gaming. The processor is a Ryzen 7 5800X. The RAM specs aren't immediately available, but I installed it about a year ago. My graphics card is a 2070 Super GPU. Everything functioned properly during the last boot (last Wednesday). Currently, my HD solid-state drive is connected via SATA, and I have a Samsung 980 Pro. Based on my research, I think there should be no compatibility problems.
The issues I'm facing are:
- First error showed an orange DRAM light. I flashed the BIOS to the latest version, which resolved it.
- After that, nothing changed until I reinserted the RAM. It passed the error with just one stick of RAM, then worked again when I put it back in.
- Then the system hung on a green boot light. This was my main concern. I tried everything: reinserting SATA, reseating the M.2 slot, resetting the CMOS. I plan to leave the CMOS battery out for a few days while I'm away to test further.
I'm confused—am I dealing with a BIOS problem? Or is there an issue with my Mobo?
My intention after returning is to connect the battery and experiment with different BIOS versions.
Have you attempted to start without any connected drives so it only boots into BIOS? If successful, you might try booting from a USB with either the Windows installer or a Linux distribution to check if your hardware functions. Following that, you may need to perform a full Windows reinstall.
I haven't done it yet. I'll try again next Thursday if the complete CMOS reset doesn't help.
I returned to the area, disconnected all my hard drives, and attempted to start from BIOS but received no response.
