PC Specifications
Mobo: MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Plus
CPU: Intel Core i7-10700F
GPU: Zotac RTX 3060 12 GB DDR6
RAM: 2 x 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz
PSU: 650w
Storage: M.2 500GB SSD and 500GB 2.5 SSD
Cooling: 1X140mm 2x200mm fan, 2x120mm liquid cooling
I consulted several PSU calculators and confirmed all outputs remained under 650W. Removing the GPU caused fans to spin immediately. Reinserting it prevented the system from starting, and the RGB lights briefly illuminated before the PC failed to boot. All components appear functional, including a brand new 2032 battery. The unit was left powered overnight, yet no electricity reached the device when I activated power. Front Panel connections are intact.

PSU: 650w is the claimed power output, but details about the brand, version, and year of this PSU are needed.
What graphics card were you using before the RTX 3060 was mentioned?

The item is brand new and I'm connecting it with an 8 PIN to 8 PIN and a 4 PIN adapter for the CPU power connector.

Maximum wattage required is 541W. It is a new build and has not POSTed yet. I think I might be getting somewhere as the GPU fans twitched.

the suggested power supply for that GPU is 600 watts.
the actual brand of the psu isn't specified here.
personally, i prefer not to rely on psu calculators; i go 100 watts higher just to be safe.
i'll also double-check all cables and connections to ensure everything is properly connected.

650W Power Supply for PC, 650W High Temperature 12cm Fan, Gaming Compatible
Brand: AOYUDJ
Considering the setup, I'm wondering if a 2X8 PIN could be used for the CPU and a single 1X8 PIN for the GPU. I'll be inspecting for any loose connections.

You believe this setup will work with two 8-pin connections, one split across two modules, and another for the GPU.
Also remember, PSUs are crucial for your PC; upgrading to a reliable brand like an RMA750E Corsair or similar is highly advised.
Cheap PSUs can cause problems and damage other parts.

I'm not swapping the PSU because wait times are misleading, particularly on weekends. Plus, my PC's final stage ran out of money. I removed the motherboard, fixed a missing standoff screw, reapplied thermal paste, and am now reinstalling the water block with careful pressure on the backplate. I also changed the PSU PINs so it has one 8-pin for the GPU. I'll be finished in just a few minutes.

It's a "650W" PSU, but only 516W of +12V capacity is actually there. This suggests a low-quality, group-regulated unit that could damage components. Do you have a simple GPU you can lend me, the kind that just makes a PC work? It seems to start up without it, though you won't be able to view anything. Fixing GPU issues isn't easy if you don't know how.

Does your setup have a Corsair 700W unit, and would replacing it help meet your needs?
