I've monitored the switch port for about 30 seconds every 10 minutes. The issue appears to last roughly 10 minutes before dropping responses. After changing the port the client uses, no drops are seen anymore. I've checked cabling and SFP modules—seems they're fine. The CLI shows the port status as "Other" with no changes. I've run "show logging" and confirmed it doesn't switch to a down state. The DTP port isn't connected to another device, so I'm puzzled why it stays enabled. I'm thinking about turning STP off but unsure if that's safe. Any tips on troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, It looks like you're dealing with a Cisco Switch. The device you mentioned is likely a PC or another switch, and DTP is active for trunking with the default setting enabled.

It's a Cisco switch connected to a client computer.

Have you executed the command "switchport mode access"?

It's asking which switch is causing the issue.

Looking for protocols with a 10-minute timer. If needed, "spanning-tree portfast" can configure default settings on edge ports. Are other connected devices affected by this?

It helped, thanks. The ping only reports one failure every ten minutes. This aligns with the fact that STP cycles take about 45 seconds, though I’m still unsure what’s behind the problem.
