This issue could stem from various problems, but this is the thread I consulted because it covers my main concerns.
I've been attempting to play games such as Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 2, or Deus Ex, yet my computer is having trouble with them. It still handles modern titles smoothly.
I notice the game sometimes drops frames unexpectedly, freezes completely, or restarts randomly after a pause. At first, I assumed it was due to a mod interfering with FNV, but when similar problems appeared in Deus Ex and Fallout 2, I began suspecting something more serious.
Recently, my computer had a short blackout lasting a few seconds. Since then, it has taken longer to boot—over a minute now.
My concerns are twofold: either something was damaged during the blackout, which worries me given my computer's expensive hardware, or I need to adjust Windows 10 settings to ensure older games run properly.
My system includes an AMD Ryzen 2700X with 8 cores, a TUF Gaming x570 Plus with Wi-Fi, Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB DDR 3200, Samsung 970 Evo 1 TB M.2, and an Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 Ti. I’m using a power supply rated at 750 W, though I can’t confirm the exact model without opening the case.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated; this situation is really frustrating.
Start in bios and revert to the default settings if there was a power interruption. Review the CPU multipliers and turbo configurations. Ensure turbo/pbo is activated to achieve maximum single-core performance for older titles, while newer games utilize multiple cores and may mask timing problems.
Some older games struggled with multi-core CPUs. Fallout 2 is an example of this issue. It needs to be run in a single-core emulation with CPU affinity set to 2, 4, or 8.

After spending some time dealing with issues, I accidentally discovered the problem because of Steam. It highlighted a 'Corrupt Disk' during a download, so I used CHKDSK and saw that my secondary HDD was failing. Thanks guys.
