Problem with PC shutting down unexpectedly.
Hey there! I'm looking for alternative options to try if the replacement isn't working. Essentially, my PC experiences random shutdowns with a yellow light on the motherboard and one RAM stick failing to power up. It happens occasionally—maybe once a month—and I've already replaced the board, swapped all RAM sticks three times, updated the BIOS, reinstalled Windows, and scanned for malware. Everything seems secure now. I've taken out my old power supply, which worked perfectly, and am hoping it won't cause further problems. The new unit is a 750W Platinum Corsair with a 64GB RAM module at 6000MHz and WiFi support.
I think there might be some misunderstandings here. Motherboards don't fail, RAM sticks aren't dead, and it's unlikely that three of them in a row would stop working. A power supply unit doesn't cause memory or stick issues, and malware isn't responsible for this. Users are the ones who sometimes encounter problems (though I can't confirm the exact case). Running your system at default settings is normal. Temperatures of your RAM and motherboard matter, as do voltage specifications. I'm still using DDR4, and I wonder if AM5/DDR5 stability is still an issue. Edited March 30, 2024 by leclod
The stands for the motherboard are already installed on my case. It's the Corsair 5000D model. I've experimented with adjusting the BIOS settings after it began failing my RAM. Temperatures remain stable at 34°C under heavy use, reaching up to 45°C, and the airflow is adequate for the fan placement. It seems the issue isn't related to temperature. I've turned on AMD Expo in the BIOS to test its impact. One power supply connector pin appears loose and hasn't been secured properly—it doesn't seem to be removable. All RAM and motherboard temperatures are normal. There are 11 fans in the PC, excluding the power supply fan.
Additionally, all drivers for everything have been refreshed—motherboard, CPU, firmware, etc. One thing that puzzled me was why the RAM RGB wouldn’t sync properly despite Armory Crate being installed and updated. I almost wish I didn’t have it on the RAM anymore, but even installing third-party software hasn’t resolved the issue.
By the way, if anyone needs to know, I've resolved this problem already. Swapped in Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM and it's working perfectly at 6000MHz. I came across someone on Reddit with the same concern—had the identical CPU and RAM—and they mentioned replacing their RAM. It's been stable for about five months now, unlike the frequent issues before.
