Problem with PC shutting down during printing
My computer powers off unexpectedly each time I print. This began after I installed a new PSU. I link my monitor, PC, and printer together in a power strip.
While printing or once the printing is complete, have you experimented with various USB ports for the printer? Consider executing sfc /scannow to verify if there are any file cleanup requirements. Have you navigated to BIOS, then selected 'Exit' and 'Reset BIOS/Optimal Settings'?
Also check Reliability History and Event Viewer. One or both might be recording an error code, warning, or informational event just before or during shutdown. Reliability History is easier to use and the timeline view is helpful. Event Viewer requires more time and effort: Consider trying another power source for the printer. Temporarily supply the printer with power from another outlet or a different circuit if feasible.
Already examined it, only mentions "windows was not shutdown properly" at the time of printing and says "shutdown was unexpected." I'm considering plugging in directly to my outlet since before replacing the PSU, which didn't cause this issue. Is it possible the PSU now consumes more power than before? I'm not sure if that will affect anything.
Having several devices connected through a power strip can cause issues. This is particularly true for strips from discount stores in boxes.
The power strip is probably poorly made, using low-quality parts and lacking proper testing. Sometimes fake certification labels are present.
The printer has its own power source and shouldn’t interfere with the PSU.
I believe there’s an electrical loop that leads to a short or other problems when the printer tries to print.
Or it might simply reduce power through the strip, causing the PSU to fail.
