Hi there, I’m facing a challenge with my RX 6650 XT (Asus Dual OC V2). There’s a problem when I play intense games or run stress tests—my screen goes black instantly, but the audio stays on. I notice nothing visible. Monitoring shows a temperature around 94°C. I took the GPU to Asus for repair, but they didn’t find anything on their side. I tried it in a friend’s PC, which worked perfectly. I’ve changed the power supply, reset the BIOS, and even tested other components like CPU, RAM, and storage. The issue started recently without any major changes to my system. My PC has run smoothly for a year before this happened, and Asus claims the card is fine. I’m unsure what might be causing this. Could it be related to motherboard compatibility, cooling, or another setting? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Recent motherboard firmware updates, the newest AMD chipset software, suitable GPU drivers, previous driver attempts, disabling the Multiplane Overlay MPO, and GPU temperatures during Furmark or Unigine Heaven runs.

I started with an older BIOS and everything functioned fine. Changing back didn’t help, then upgrading again failed to resolve the issue. I have the newest AMD chipset drivers and the latest GPU drivers (version 24.10.1). I’ve tried several other driver versions too. So far, I haven’t disabled MPO—I’ll give it a try. Concerning GPU temps, the peak reached 94°C at my home, but exceeded 110°C at my friend’s place.

24.12.1 is the most recent update. 12.10.1 caused problems, I experienced issues with it as well.

I attempted to turn off MPO and install the newest driver, yet the issue persisted. Are there other possibilities behind this problem? Might it be connected to the motherboard?

Hi there, I’m facing a challenge with my RX 6650 XT (Asus Dual OC V2). There’s a problem when I play intense games or run stress tests—my screen goes black instantly, but the audio stays on. I notice nothing visible. Monitoring shows the GPU overheats around 94°C. I took it to Asus for repair, but they couldn’t find the cause. It worked fine on a friend’s system and even reached higher temps there. I’ve tried swapping the PSU to a Corsair 650W and reset the BIOS, but nothing changed. I also tested another GPU with a borrowed Nvidia GTX 1660, which worked perfectly. My PC has run smoothly for a year before this started. I don’t recall any major changes. I’m unsure if the issue is with the motherboard, cooling, or another setting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I attempted that after resetting and clearing the BIOS, but it didn't resolve the issue.

Tested with a single RAM stick. Used O.C.C.T., Prime95 Blend, FurMark, MSI Kombustor, Unigine Heaven, Cinebench 2024, MemTest86+, and Passmark Memtest86. Checked the drive health via Hard Disk Sentinel and looked for firmware updates.
