Hello, I'm experiencing some problems while playing a game and chatting in Discord. Sometimes my audio stutters and the PC gets slow, with frame drops that last between one to four seconds. My monitors can go black, but they recover after a restart. After rebooting, Discord shows a delay in my voice chat, which might be unrelated to Discord itself. I've checked Event Viewer for clues, but nothing appears before the system restarts. Once recovery happens, the issue disappears, though my monitors stay dark until I press restart.

My PC specs are: CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, GPU - EVGA RTX 3080 Ti, RAM - 32GB Corsair, motherboard - ASUS ROG Strix X570-E, storage - Samsung 980 Pro M.2, power supply - Corsair RM1000X ATX 3.1, Windows 11 Pro 64-bit.

I've tried stress testing the GPU and CPU with FurMark and Prime95, which caused occasional stutters but no full crashes. I reduced my GPU's clock speed to 95% initially, which helped at first, but it still crashed in Total War: Warhammer 3 multiplayer. I replaced my PSU with a new Corsair RM1000X, but the problem persisted.

I'm unsure what else might be causing this. Any advice on next steps would be appreciated.

Recent bios updates? Current chipset firmware? Tested disabling the Multiplane Overlay MPO? CPU PBO offset configured as negative fifteen?

I have the newest chipset drivers; I wasn’t sure about the other two points and planned to check them after updating my BIOS. Updated BIOS turned off the multiplane overlay.

Verify drive condition with Hard Disk Sentinel and check SSD firmware via Samsung Magician. Additionally, confirm if the GPU has a newer BIOS or firmware update available.

I upgraded my GPU BIOS using precision tools, verified every one of the four SSDs with Magician—everything worked perfectly. I also refreshed the firmware on one drive; it wasn’t the boot drive. Additionally, I ran a MemTest and received no errors.

Checked if performance has improved with the Iobit Driver Booster.

These issues were very unpredictable, and I haven’t managed to trigger them before. I’ll only know when they occur again. It might be wiser not to try to prevent it now. Thanks for your support so far!

The actions implemented could have made a difference; we should be confident the problem is resolved. Recommended resources for stability testing include O.c.c.t. Prime95, Furmark, Unigine Heaven, 3DMark, MSI Kombustor, HDTune, Memtest86+, and Cinebench 2024. Additionally, you can verify your Windows status via "sfc /scannow" in CMD.

had another crash today, mostly playing Total War: WH3 without any problems until now. This time the crash happened suddenly – everything froze, audio kept playing until I restarted. In Event Viewer I saw an event just before it crashed (about 1 minute before restart, roughly 2 minutes prior). Details: Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-EventTracing, Date: 12/26/2024 9:57 PM, Event ID: 1, Keywords: Session User: SYSTEM, Computer: Leki. Description: The log file for the live session "NVIDIA-NVTOPPS-FILTER" reached its limit size. Consequently, new events won’t be recorded until space opens up. This issue usually occurs when starting a real-time trace without any active consumers. Event XML shows a warning about low memory or a high-level error (Event ID 3221225864). I checked the system logs and settings in Total War WH3, adjusted some parameters, and restarted. After about five minutes of running memtest_vulkan it passed. It’s possible the problem was related to VRAM; lowering settings might have helped. What else can I try to pinpoint a VRAM or disk issue?
