Hello, I recently assembled a PC about a week ago and everything has been fine until today when a circuit tripped and the power went out briefly. My PC stopped working while I was gaming, and it was connected to a surge protector. Since then, depending on the situation, either 1) the PC shuts down with the motherboard lights still on and the fans running normally, or 2) the PC powers off completely, the motherboard light turns off, and the PC fails to start properly—fans spin but RGB stays off. I’ve experienced this second scenario a few times before the outage, but it seems the power loss made it worse. It might be related to the PSU, the motherboard, Windows shutting down, a power strip, or something else entirely. I’m unsure and would appreciate any advice. When the power finally came back, I had to reset the CMOS to get the PC to boot and display again. I’m really struggling to figure out what’s going on and just hope my PC works smoothly again.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
When sharing a troubleshooting thread, it's important to provide complete system details. Please list the specifications as follows:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
Include the age of the PSU along with its make and model.
Also, note the BIOS version for your motherboard at this time.
You may want to check if updating the BIOS resolves your issue. Once confirmed, clear the CMOS by disconnecting from the wall, turning off the display, removing the CMOS battery, and holding the power button for 30 seconds. Replace the battery after 30 minutes.
Additionally, consider whether a grounding problem might be affecting your setup—such issues can arise after a power surge if the power lines are damaged.
