Motherboard: Asus P5N32-e SLI
I increased my core 2 quad q8200 to 2.8ghz in the BIOS. Attempts with Windows, CPU-z and other programs didn't display the overclock; C1E was turned off. The overclock was visible until I restarted the system.

Appearance and sound suggest the OC may have dropped out; consider increasing vCore (CPU voltage) next time.

Next to the multiplier, you typically see something resembling X28 (8 - 28) or similar.
